The first-born son of a Texas District Court Judge, you could say RC was destined to end up in the legal system. He grew up the eldest of three in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His pre-law school days saw him take jobs from Episcopal youth-group leader to Dillard’s gift-wrap, mall security to Rock guitarist. Eventually, those didn’t pan out, so he went to law school.
In law school he was selected for traveling mock trial teams that placed third in the National Trial Competition. After law school, he joined the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office where he was eventually appointed to first chair of County Court number 1. After two and a half years with the bad guys, RC realized his actual calling was representing those accused of crimes.
For the next 15 years, RC owned and operated the Law Office of RC Pate, a criminal defense firm dedicated to high-quality representation. In this time, he was appointed to the editorial board of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s magazine; became a Founding Member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association; and a member of both the Texas DWI Lawyers Association and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
In 2015, RC was designated by the American Chemical Society as a Lawyer Scientist. RC has completed the NHTSA/IACP Standardized Field Sobriety Practitioner’s course twice. He has also been honored to teach at educational seminars relating to criminal defense.
RC has tried numerous criminal trials all over the State of Texas. He has appeared in counties from Midland to Laredo. He’s looking forward to putting a life full of those skills to use defending you or a loved one.
